Teaching aims:

1. To learn how to collect relevant information about writing a composition.

2. To learn how to organize the ideas before writing.

3. To learn how to arrange the information to form a composition.

4. To learn how to express the composition correctly.

Step 1 Free talk

Guess the name of a place：school.

Look at some pictures of the activities in school and talk about school life.

Step 2 Oral Writing

1.Ask some Ss to say something about the school life according to the key words.

2. Read the model passage.

3. Teach Ss how to change a passage into a letter. That means to guide the students the way to add a general beginning and ending to form a letter.

4. Read the composition together.

Step 3 Play a game

     Guess a person according to his or her appearance.

Step 4 Practice writing

1.Show the requirement of the composition(the composition of the entrance exam to high school in 2006)

2. Invite students to make sentences according to the given words and phrases.

3. Show them a composition. Ask the students to correct the mistakes. Point out what kinds of mistakes there may be in a composition.

4. Summarize the mistakes which are often found in Ss’ compostions.

5. Enjoy a model article.

Step 5 Practice

1.Free talk about rules at school.

2.Look at some pictures and discuss what we should do and should not do in a school in groups of four.

3.Show the requirement of the composition(the composition of the entrance exam to high school in 2007)

4.Ask the students to write the composition by themselves.

5.Choose one of the Ss’ compositions to check for the mistakes in class.

6.Read the composition in chorus.

Step 6 Homework

Write a composition with the topic ‘Changes in My Hometown ’.
