Unit 5 Signs (Period 1) Teaching contents教学内容: Story time Teaching aims and learning objectives教学目标: Knowledge & skills objectives: 1.Ss can listen, read and understand some new words like sign, careful, mean, litter, shopping center, restaurant etc. 2.Ss can listen, read, understand and use some phrases like No eating, No drinking, No smoking and talk the meanings of the signs in different ways. 3.Ss can fluently read and get the meaning of the whole story. Process & method objectives: 1.Ss can correctly design some signs for their class and talk about it in this way: What does it mean? It means… 2.Ss can can get some information from reading the story and develop their reading skills and cooperative skills. Emotion, attitude & value objectives: 1.Ss can know some signs in their life and follow some rules in public. Focus of the lesson and predicted area of difficulty教学重难点: 1.Ss can fluently read and get the meaning of the whole story. 2.Ss can talk about the signs with these sentences:What does it mean? It means… 3.Ss can use different ways to express the meanings of the signs like No+v.ing, You can’t…, n. 4.Ss can know some signs in their life and follow some rules in public. Preparation教学准备: PPT, Mp3,pictures of signs Teaching procedures教学过程: Step 1 Warming-up&Leading-in Show students some photos which were taken during the trip. Lead Ss to talk about whether those photos are beautiful or not. Teach the new word sign.
Step 2 Pre-reading Brainstorm: Ask students to talk freely about: Where can we find signs? Teach new words shopping center and restaurant.
Step 3 While-reading T: We can see signs in many places, now let’s learn a story about signs. The whole story: 1. Listen to the whole story and order the four pictures. 2. Listen again, get Ss to find the four signs in the story from the 6 signs. Paragraph 1&2 Listen and answer: Ask students the meanings of two signs. Get students to listen to the first 2 paragraphs and find the answer. Teach new words litter and the phrase Be careful. Ask and answer with the dialogue :What does it mean? It means ... Listen and repeat: Read the first two paragraphs in different ways. Paragraph 3&4 1. Pair work: get Ss to guess the meanings of these 2 signs ,then talk about the signs like this : ——Can you see that sign?/ Here is a sign. ——It means… 2. Check some pairs and teach “smoke” here. 3. Read and act: Ask students to read in groups and find the new words and try to solve. 4.Read in different ways. 5.Act out the two parts. Step 4 Practice 1.Read the whole story by themselves, then choose the right answers. 2.Check the answers. 3.IQ surfing: Show more signs, get students to talk in 3 ways. 4.Look and write: Ask Ss to finish the exercise on page 50. Step 5 Groupwork: To be a little designer 1.Ask students to design some signs for their own classroom. 2.Show time: Students share their works with their classmates. Talk about it in pairs and then check some of them. Step 6 Warm tips Follow the rules, to be a good citizen. Step 7 Homework 1.Flunetly read the whole story. 2 Review the meaning of the signs and find more signs around us. Blackboard design板书设计: Unit5 Signs What does it mean?
